The Voice firm in the hotseat over overspend

Despite stumping up £22m for two series of The Voice, which has hardly set audience ratings on fire, it seems that there has been a budget blowout of £650,000, reports the Sun (the story was originally broken by Broadcast on Thursday morning). Bosses are blaming the hi-tech swivel chairs – although given the seats are key to the show, it surely shouldn't have been a budgetary surprise. The BBC is making the production company, Wall to Wall, pay for the blowout. Still, so much for a new-look BBC which is meant to carefully watch its pennies.
