The Voice fans point out Will.I.Am's huge blunder over song

Voice fans were left confused and angry tonight as Will.I.Am made a big blunder as he introduced a song to his contestants.

Will put group Evergreen up against Johannes in a battle tonight and sat them down together to explain what they would be singing on the show.

The judge said:"You'll be singing Songbird by Eva Cassidy."

Evergreen were delighted, but Johannes admitted he didn't know the song.

And as the two acts practiced viewers were quick to point out that Songbird was originally sung by Fleetwood Mac and not Eva Cassisdy.

And many of them took to social media to point out the blunder.

Johannes was thrilled to get through (ITV)

Ian Wilson said: "Christine McVie wrote Songbird for the Rumours album and Fleetwood Mac closed every single show with it until she left the group 21 years later."

Keith Sinclair said: "Eva Cassidy’s version of Songbird was superb but Will.i.am was wrong as it wasn’t her song. It was written by Christine McVie and first performed by her band Fleetwood Mac on the classic Rumours album in 1977."

Mari Owen said: "Eva Cassidy? What! it's a Fleetwood Mac song."

And Gabriel and Hare said: "Songbird was written by Christine Macvie - Fleetwood Mac! #TheVoiceUK not Eva Cassidy."

Despite his initial reluctance Johannes impressed in the battle, with Will picking him to continue in the competition rather than the Irish girl group.

*The Voice continues on Saturday on ITV at 8:30pm
