The Voice contestants team up for NHS charity song after coronavirus stopped live shows

The contestants from the ITV talent show The Voice may be having to wait to resume the live shows after they were shelved because of the coronavirus crisis, but they're putting their voices to good use.

Thirty acts from this year's series filmed at MediaCityUK at Salford Quays have been putting their lockdown time to good use, teaming up for a charity song in aid of the NHS.

While staying at home they've performed a lockdown cover of the Stevie Wonder classic As, the idea of retro vocal harmony group Belle Noir.

The band - Sarah Goodwin, Emily Patrikios and Jasmine Gur - shared the video on Instagram after teasing their fans about an upcoming project.

They said: "We’ve got something very exciting up our green velvet sleeves involving our @thevoiceuk brothers and sisters...keep your eyes peeled!"

Posting the song on their Instagram they said: "So excited to share this!

"We are the contestants from @ITV’s @TheVoiceUK 2020 and we are using our voices to spread a message of positivity and help raise money for @NHSCharitiesTogether."

ITV decided to postpone the Voice semi-finals and final in March, just over a week before the live shows were scheduled to begin.

Instead the shows were replaced with The Voice specials featuring clips from previous shows hosted by coach will.i.am.

On the song's JustGiving page it explains: "Music is powerful and we've chosen Stevie Wonder's As with its powerful lyrics as a way to raise spirits, spread hope and give back to our wonderful NHS!"
