The Voice coaches unrecognisable on first day of filming in Salford

The Voice coaches will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones were unrecognisable on the first day of filming the new series of the long-running singing contest.

The music superstars both wore face masks as they headed from the Lowry Hotel to film the 11th series at MediaCityUK at Salford Quays.

Black Eyed Peas rapper Will passed almost unnoticed as he walked through Salford to the studios wearing a black mask adorned with an ice cream and a lightning bolt.

The 46-year-old American hitmaker is at home in the area having filmed all 11 series in the city.

In 2017 he visited the Corrie set with Sir Tom Jones and former coaches Jennifer Hudson and Gavin Rossdale.

And he was so impressed he returned to Coronation Street to film the music video for his song Fiyah in the soap's iconic boozer the Rovers Return.

On Tuesday fellow coach Sir Tom was also spotted stepping out of the Lowry in a navy mask to match his tracksuit.

And the 81-year-old looked on top form as he gave a wave to the photographer.

Olly Murs, 37, who joined Will and Tom in the spinning chairs in 2018, beamed for the camera as he left the hotel in a zesty orange T-shirt and stone-coloured cargo pants with a matching body warmer and chunky black trainers.

The Heart Skips A Beat singer looked delighted to be back near the home of his beloved Manchester United.

In September he captained the England squad for Soccer Aid at the Etihad Stadium organised by his friend Robbie Williams to raise money for international children's charity UNICEF.

Sadly Olly was forced off the pitch as an old knee injury played up.

After he left the pitch, he was subbed by English rapper Aitch.

The 10th series of The Voice was won in March by Craig Eddie who was mentored in the contest by popstar Anne-Marie.

His debut song Come Waste My Time shot to number one in the iTunes chart and landed at eight in the official Top 40 .
