The Virtues fans thrilled to see Brookside character in gritty show

Viewers of The Virtues were thrilled to see a familiar face from Brookside in tonight's show.

Stephen Graham, playing recovering alcoholic Joe, went to Liverpool to catch a ferry to Belfast.

And when he went to buy a ticket fans were happy to see Sinbad from Brookie as the cashier.

But Joe's luck was out as Michael Stark - playing cashier Sam - couldn't sell him a ticket as he was just after the cut off.

The pair had a passive aggressive exchange, with Joe having to pay for a cabin in a ferry 11 hours later as there was no foot passenger tickets left.

And fans took to Twitter in their hundreds to point out Sinbad's guest appearance.

'Working on Jeremy Kyle made me so uneasy it put me off working in TV for good'

One said: "Blast from the past - Sinbad from Brookside not changed much."

Another said: "FFS Sinbad. Never had you down as such a jobsworth."
