The viral split ends hack for 'shinier and healthier' hair that 'you'll never stop doing once you try it'

A woman has amazed TikTok users with her simple hack for getting rid of split ends.

Meyin Leda, who posts videos with motivational messages, shared her technique for 'shinier and healthier' hair that she's been hooked on ever since trying it for the first time five years ago.

"A hack I started doing five years ago that I can't stop doing now," she said.

In the video, Meyin takes a strand of hair around one inch thick, and combs it through.

She then holds the hair tightly in place between her fingers, so that split ends can spring up, and then she cuts against the side of her hair.

Meyin hails the method for hair growth too, as she only needs to cut her long tresses this way once every six months.

The video has racked up more than five million views, with many users asking for more information.

Meyin explains in the comments that she straightens her hair before doing the hack, as it's more difficult to spot split ends with curly or wavy hair.

She also advises using professional hairdressing scissors, as they are sharper.

Some social media users asked if she ever ends up cutting the length, to which she clarified: "Because you cut your hair from the top and when you’re getting towards the ends, you stop to prevent cutting your layers, does that make sense?"

User taniuffik agreed with the method, writing: "Once you try it, you will never stop doing it".

Meanwhile user Odie_OllieShow said: "I do this to get all the split ends. My hair has never been more shiny and healthier."

Another highlighted how the method works for keeping the length long, as usually, a hairdresser visit results in a shorter length to get rid of split ends.

Rachel Woodard said: "This cuts your split ends throughout your hair instead of having to chop all your hair off, it’s a great trick."
