The vintage baby names set to make a comeback due to the 100-year rule

Vintage baby names could be about to soar in popularity.

The anticipated comeback derives from a baby name theory you may not of heard of.

According to the 100-year rule it takes, you guessed it, roughly 100 years for a baby name trend to resurface.

With this in mind, The Mirror has taken a look back at names that were a hit 100 years ago that could return in 2020.

Experts over at the Social Security Administration in the US have compiled a list of the most popular boys and girls names from the roaring 20s.

Mary, Dorothy, Helen and Betty were the most popular girls names during this period.

While for boys 100 years ago it was Robert, John, James and William.

Many of those in the top 10 could easily be called old-fashioned, but further down the list a few monikers that could prove popular feature.

Girls names like Evelyn, Anna, Florence, Faye, Lila, Rosalie, Imogene, Nora, Billie, Bonnie and Audrey also feature in the full list of 200 names.

As do Forrest, Jay, Archie, Wesley, Warren, Leo, Calvin and Jesse for the boys.
