The video that will give Notts County fans hope for the future

Youngster Kion Etete was back among the goals for Notts County reserves as they signed off their season by comfortably disposing of Morecambe.

Etete was the star of the show for Notts as he demonstrated his immense composure to fire home a hat-trick.

Will Patching and Sam Osborne, who was awarded the Young Player of the Season award at Meadow Lane on Saturday, were also both at their very best for the Magpies.

The duo chipped in with assists, with ex-Manchester City kid Patching twice turning provider in the second half.

Pressure has been growing on Notts boss Neal Ardley in recent weeks to promote some of the Magpies' talented youngsters into the first team.

Etete has attracted Premier League interest this season and spent a week on trial with Tottenham Hotspur, sparking rumours that the north London club were poised to make an approach.

Neal Ardley congratulated Man of the Match Craig Mackail-Smith (John Sumpter)

However, speaking ahead of Notts' clash with Grimsby Town on Saturday, Ardley reaffirmed his stance that he has always selected his best 11.

"I watch these boys in training regularly against the first-team boys so I know how far off they are," said Ardley.

Why being off social media is an advantage to Notts County's Mitch Rose

"If you had your job on the line and you were choosing which players to put in the team, like I am, then why wouldn't I put a young player in who is better than what I have got?

"There is a lot to do and I want the young players here to go: 'Yeah, I need to work harder', and not just expect to be in the team.

"The team that we have out there is by far the best team that we can put out there, and that's the facts."
