The video that shows the preparation Mikel Arteta has done for the Arsenal job

Mikel Arteta looks set to be named the next Arsenal manager some time this week with reports claiming the club are close to an announcement.

The Spaniard was rumoured to be in the running to replace Arsene Wenger when the legendary Gunners boss stepped down at the end of the 2017/18 season but the club opted to hire Unai Emery instead.

But now after a difficult start to the season, Arsenal find themselves on the hunt for a new manager and look set to finally bring Arteta back to North London after he left to join Pep Guardiola’s coaching staff at Manchester City in 2016.

The 37-year-old has enjoyed much success at the Etihad since hanging up his boots and becoming a coach, winning two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and two EFL Cups during his time in Manchester.

One of those EFL Cup titles was actually won against Arsenal, with City beating the Gunners 3-0 in the 2018 final in Wenger’s final season at the helm.

And a moment before that final provides an insight into Arteta’s preparations to become Arsenal boss, with intimate details of City’s 2017/18 being filmed for their season of All or Nothing - a documentary series released by Amazon Prime.

With his former club awaiting City in the final of the tournament, Guardiola tasked Arteta with providing a detailed report on the Gunners.

“From now on, you’re going to be studying Arsenal,” he can be seen telling Arteta. “I want you to write me a report on their attack and defence.”
