The Veronicas open up about sibling feud and Ruby Rose

Sibling pop duo The Veronicas addressed their rocky past few years head-on during a candid interview with Kyle and Jackie O today.

The 34-year-old twin sisters, Jessica and Lisa Origliasso, opened up about Jess' messy breakup with actress Ruby Rose, their new relationships and their own brief public feud.

The Hook Me Up singers shocked fans in late 2017 when they appeared to publicly reference a painful divide in their sisterly relationship.

Jess released an emotional statement about her "12 years" of "deep pain" caused by someone close to her, after her then-girlfriend Ruby Rose had publicly called out Lisa.

"If only it had been a publicity stunt, that would've been a lot easier to manage. We had to work out a few things that were happening in my life personally, so that we could … yeah. Totally my fault," Jess told Kyle and Jackie O of the feud this morning.

"Definitely not your fault, Jessy," Lisa told her sister.

Months after Jess' statement, she and Rose went their separate ways — a breakup that messily played out in public, with Jess going so far as to accuse her ex of "continued harassment".

"It was a very complex relationship. I'm still trying to come to terms with the reality of it every day, so it's really hard to explain it to anybody. There was just so much that happened, so much that I can't even get into," Jess said.

"At the end of the day, we're all human beings, and people have their struggles and inner demons. For me, it was time to leave that situation and be as happy and healthy as I deserve to be."

The pair are both now in relationships: Jess is dating musician Kai Carlton, 12 years her junior ("I'm a bit of a cougar, to be honest"), while last November Lisa married her partner of five years, actor Logan Huffman, who is himself a triplet.

Jess opened up about her dating history with both men and women, explaining "there's no preference for me. It comes down to souls — who you connect with."

She said she was 20 when she was with a woman for the first time.

"I met a girl and thought she was absolutely incredible. I just thought she was the most stunning thing I'd ever seen, and I really wanted to kiss her. We had a romance for a few years," she said.

"Women can be quite intimate emotionally — they're very emotionally available. That's been my experience. That closeness and that bond I find really amazing. It depends what kind of woman you're with, to be honest. I was with quite an aggressive woman, which I really liked. She was quite forward."

The sisters today release their first single in two years, Think Of Me, which comes with a memorable chorus aimed squarely at an ex:

Do you miss me in your sheets?

Do you miss me in your bed?

The way we talk all night

The way I give you head

Do you think that she's the one

Or do you just pretend?

And when she says it's love

Will you think of me instead?

The twins concede 14 years into their careers, they've left some famous exes in their wake — among them Rose, Smashing Pumpkins singer Billy Corgan and Australian Idol star Dean Geyer.

"We call it the Origliasso curse … we've heard that's what it's called. They're left with the memory of us forever, haunted by us," they said.
