The Vamps' James McVey gets married to model girlfriend after Covid re-scheduling

The Vamps' James McVey has announced that he has tied the knot with his model girlfriend after having to postpone their wedding.

James and Kirstie Brittain were supposed to be getting married last November but due to coronavirus restrictions, the pair decided to push it back to this Halloween.

James posted to his social media to announced that the couple's wedding was able to go ahead this weekend by sharing a series of snaps from their special day.

The photos feature the happy couple leaving the venue after their ceremony.

He described the day as the 'best day' alongside the photos.

He captioned the post: "I never believed the cliché ‘best day of your life’ thing, then it happened."

Celebs rushed to the comments to congratulate the new married couple.

Love Island's Dr Alex said: "Congratulations mate," while Emily Atack commented: " Amazing xxxxxx"

Giovanna Fletcher wrote: " Congratulations!!!!!! Xxxx"

The wedding was scheduled for 2020 but the pair decided to postpone it due to covid restrictions that were in place at the time.

At the time James told Metro : "It is meant for November, but the problem is that the government haven’t really set out any plans for how weddings can go back to normal.

"Thirty people can be at a reception, but have to be socially distanced.

"We have elderly relatives in Liverpool who would have to travel down to Dorset where we’re getting married. Kirstie and I are thinking it’s best to postpone it until Halloween next year."

James recently reminisced about when he first joined The Vamps by sending bandmate Bradley Simpson a message asking if he had any management and how old he was at the time.

James sent a message to Bradley that said: "Hi Bradley, I'm working in a band project with Prestige management. I stumbled across your YouTube account and I'm impressed.

"How old are you and do you have any management in place at the moment? Thanks, James."

Sending the message clearly paid off as it has been ten years since the band got together and their most recent album Cherry Blossom went to number one.

This is as well as another number one album and their debut single 'Can We Dance' going to number two back in 2013.

James described that The Vamps will always be 'special' to him as he captioned the post: "10 years baby! @bradleywillsimpson - what a whirlwind we’ve been on. Wouldn’t trade it for the world. Thanks B, and also T and C for everything. The Vamps will always hold such a special place in my heart."
