It has been a year since fans were gifted with “Long Face,” the first track from The Vampire Lestat. And at San Diego Comic-Con this year, we received a first look at season 3 of Interview With the Vampire.
If you were lucky enough to be in Hall H during the panel for The Vampire Lestat, you saw a first look at the trailer for season 3. For the rest of you, they released a “backstage” tour for the season with Sam Reid leading the charge, giving us a lot of information about how Lestat in his rockstar era is going to look.
For those who haven’t taken a deep dive into the Anne Rice world yet, let me explain: During the 80s, Lestat decided it was time to be a rockstar. Yes, I did instantly think about Tom Cruise in Rock of Ages, thank you. But we are actually going to see this storyline play out in the third season of Interview With the Vampire, which they did rename The Vampire Lestat à la the title of the Annie Rice novel.
We have, for the last year, been patient as they started to film season 3. I happily took crumbs while the months passed by. But now that I’ve had a taste of what is in store for us, I do feel as if I cannot wait until 2026 for more. I need the trailer HD right now!
But hey, if the music of The Vampire Lestat is half as good as “Long Face,” we’re in for a treat.
Look, I am a Lestat girl now
Prior to the AMC series, I was not a fan of Lestat. To be fair, I also thought Louis was annoying. Team Claudia all the way. But now, Sam Reid has done the impossible: He’s made me love Lestat and all his drama. To be fair, Jacob Anderson also gave me a love and appreciation for Louis as well.
That’s the beauty of the AMC Anne Rice Universe. These shows allow the characters to live and breathe as Rice would have wanted them to and it makes them a bit more nuanced than the 1994 film was. So yes, I am waiting with baited breath to see what Reid has prepared for us as Rockstar Lestat. I am going to be unhinged in the best of ways and may we all crash out over him together.
