Although Amazon Prime Week has come and gone, we're still seeing some good discounts available across competing sites as they look to tempt back customers after their heads were turned last week.
Maybe you were tempted to splash the cash a bit last week? I know I was, treating myself to a new pair of headphones when I should really be investing in a new driver... or even lessons. I'm a lower handicapper so the Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 Driver wouldn't be the best fit for me due to the fact it is catered towards the higher handicapper, but that doesn't mean I still can't recommend it to you as a great upgrade off the tee - especially with the discount available over on PGA TOUR Superstore.
To be honest, as I write this piece I'm questioning whether I should give this driver a try - I've really struggled getting off the tee in 2025 and switching to a user-friendly, forgiving driver could well help my confidence to get me out of the slump I am in. Also, speaking to our driver tester Joe Ferguson about this club has pushed me further in this direction - at just $150, it's worth a swing, right?
Joe tested and reviewed the Tour Edge Hot Launch C524 back in 2024 and he was very impressed. Although Tour Edge may not be the most well-known brand on the market, they build well-made, affordable golf clubs that cater to a wide range of players. As a result, they offer some of the best value for money on the entire market - appreciated ever more at a time in which the game is only getting more expensive to play.
The first place to start with this driver is, of course, the price. $150 doesn't buy you many golf clubs these days - especially drivers, so we're already off to a flying start. Despite the lower price tag, the visual package here is a strong and premium-looking one.
The ridgeback technology that Tour Edge has implemented frames the ball beautifully and the ‘ridge’ provides a really useful alignment aid, topped off by the carbon effect crown for that premium look at address. This carbon effect extends to the sole of the club alongside a back weight to increase MOI and playability.
If you're looking for extra distance off the tee then the Diamond Face VFT technology implemented here may help - it essentially acts like 35 diamond-shaped mini trampolines in the club face that help increase ball speed. Although the C524 did lag ever so slightly behind the likes of the Ping G430 Max 10K (174.1 mph) or the TaylorMade Qi10 (173.8 mph) in terms of ball speed, this is to be expected in a driver that costs roughly a third of the price. This makes the modest price tag look all the more remarkable.
Then from a feel standpoint Joe enjoyed the lively but solid thud which did have a reasonably high-pitched impact noise, whilst the club felt well-engineered and surprisingly stable too. Admittedly there does need to be more shaft options, it is only available with the Aldila Ascent, albeit in 4 different flexes.
But given the performance on offer as well as the price tag, the C524 is right up there with the best drivers for beginners as well as the best budget golf drivers. I truly don't think $150 can be ignored for a driver of this quality.
