Arsenal had the chance to move back into the top four on Monday night.
But they blew it.
Like Liverpool before them, they struggled against newly-promoted Sheffield United at Bramall Lane.
But unlike Liverpool, who managed to grind out a 1-0 win, albeit thanks to a calamitous goalkeeping error from Dean Henderson on the day, Arsenal succumbed to the opposite - a 1-0 defeat.
Unai Emery and Arsenal have an abundance of attacking quality at their disposal, yet there was something seriously wrong about their play on Monday night.
football.london were in Yorkshire for the clash to witness a team with club-record signing Nicolas Pepe, Ballon d'Or nominated Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and young talent Bukayo Saka in a front three that managed just three shots on target against a newly-promoted outfit.
And not only that, but just one of those three shots on target came from inside the 18-yard box.
Reporter James Benge summed it up on Twitter.
He said: "Arsenal managed one shot on target in the box against a newly-promoted team last night. Kudos to Sheffield United, but that is an utterly embarrassing output from a side with such attacking talent. Emery trying to claim Arsenal deserved anything else was utter nonsense."
That led to a number of responses from Arsenal fans on Twitter.
But a look at what has happened so far this season shows this is not necessarily a new problem for Emery, particularly in away games.
Analysis on Wyscout shows that in the first game of the season - away at Newcastle United - another team who set up to stifle the attacking prowess of the Gunners, Arsenal managed just two shots on target.
There was similar against Liverpool, perhaps more expected, however, against a fellow top six side, when Arsenal had three shots on target.

They were improving in every home game though, with four shots on target in the next away game against Watford, albeit only three from inside the area, and five against Manchester United (four in the area).
However, there has been a real downturn in the last two matches.
Bournemouth at home was a disaster from a shots on target point of view, with Arsenal managing just two all game, David Luiz scoring with one to secure the three points.
And then came the defeat to Sheffield United. The Gunners had three shots on target at Bramall Lane, with just one from inside the box, as highlighted by Benge.
All the talk ahead of the season was about the defence and whether that had been tightened up sufficiently. Alexandre Lacazette's return to the starting XI cannot come soon enough on recent form.
