The upside to being George Clooney's girlfriend

Oh, bother. Here we were, happily bimbling along having managed to convince ourselves that going out with George Clooney wouldn't be that great after all, and all of a sudden we learnt that the list of 'reasons why it is good to go out with George Clooney' has grown by one, now reading:

1) Because you're going out with George Clooney

2) House on Lake Como. And now...

3) Pain-free casting in large Hollywood movies.

So Mr Clooney, who has been dating 'ex-waitress' Sarah Larson for at least several months now, believes her to be so very talented and pretty that he has asked his mate Stephen Sonderbergh to cast her in his upcoming movie. Not to 'audition' her, according to that story, but just to cast her. Job done. Pif paf poof.

Is she an actress? The only thing you ever hear her referred to is an 'ex-waitress' so, as that describes most actors - or the ones that can't be described as 'current waiters', anyway.

Still, it does offer a much more prosaic route into acting than the usual 'slow build up of reputation through theatre and/or tv work, advancing one's career through a mixture of good management, talent and contacts' - in fact, it is possibly worth publishing a brand new textbook on 'How to Make It In Acting'

1) Learn to carry trays winningly.

2) Go out with George Clooney.

The end.

It will be a great book, if very short.

We will sell it for a tenner a copy. We will make our millions.
