The Upcoming 'Gundam Build Divers' Anime Now Has Ferrets For Mobile Suit Pilots

‘Gundam Build Divers’ is released this Spring in Japan.

Following the success of the Gundam Build Fighters anime, which based its entire premise around the hugely popular gunpla model kit craze in Japan, we now have a new anime called Gundam Build Divers to look forward to this Spring.

While this new series is clearly in the same vein as Gundam Build Fighters, it seems to be taking a more ‘isekai’, or alternate world, approach this time around.

In that, we now have animal characters piloting mobile suits and fighting against people.

Personally, I think whoever had the idea of casting Sho Hayami as a ferret deserves several awards but the overall setting and premise seems to be more fantasy inspired now.

It also continues on with the tradition of having some spectacularly animated mobile suit combat, which should come as no surprise when you realize that Masami Obari is again working as the action director on Gundam Build Divers.

However, much like with Gundam Build Fighters, my main issue with these types of series is that they mess with my head in terms of mobile suit designs. This is because the mecha used are changed up in some way, which makes identifying them a bit awkward.

The other major point worth noting here is that this new Gundam Builder Divers anime is obviously being timed with the upcoming Gundam Breaker game on PS4 also out later this year.

Like this anime, Gundam Breaker is based around controlling gunpla and building your own mobile suits out of the component parts of the enemies you vanquish.

In any case, you should check out the new subtitled 15 minute Gundam Build Divers anime prologue (shown below), as I doubt it will allow you to look at ferrets in quite the same way again.
