The unwanted Newcastle United record Mikel Arteta's Arsenal could break this season

There has been plenty of change in the Premier League this season and one of the biggest alterations has occurred in North London, with the Mikel Arteta taking the reigns at Arsenal.

The Gunners have struggled for stability since his arrival though and while the positive spin is that they are yet to lose in 2020, the fact of the matter is the Spaniard has won just one of his matches in the Premier League.

Remarkably, the 2-2 draw with Chelsea on Tuesday night has taken Arsenal's tally of draws this season to 12 - far more than any other side in the Premier League.

To put that into perspective, that is now just one shy of the amount of draws that Arsenal have had in the last two Premier League campaigns combined.

With 14 matches remaining in the Gunners' league campaign this season, Arteta's side could break the all-time Premier League record for draws in a season, which is currently 17.

That 'honour' is currently held by the Newcastle United side of 2003-04, the Aston Villa side of 2011-12,  and the Sunderland side that suffered 2014-15.

In that Newcastle season, the Magpies finished four-points shy of the Champions League places with a total of 56 points, which is quite remarkable considering Chelsea, the side currently in fourth, have already reached 40 points this term.
