The unthinkable Scottish football sight that could become the norm as UEFA advisor proposes radical plan

Scottish footballers could play in MASKS when the game resumes, according to a leading UEFA expert.

The game has been shut down completely since mid-March, with an SPFL resolution to end the lower leagues as they stand passing this week.

Celtic could be crowned champions next week if UEFA give the go-ahead to do the same in the Premiership.

And even when football does return it could look very different, with UEFA's new virologist advisor stating that players could have to wear masks to limit the risk of spreading COVID-19.

He explained: "In my opinion, it is not possible to go back to playing football as long as social distancing is mandatory. And players will also all need to be tested before any competition resumes.

"But I would offer up an alternative suggestion of players wearing face masks during the game, which might speed up football's return.

"In the sports of American Football and cycling, you already get sportsmen wearing them during their game or event. They are comfortable.

"If it's possible for them, why not for footballers?"
