Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang wanted to come on in the second half of Arsenal's win over Tottenham on Sunday but Gunners boss Mikel Arteta opted against making the substitution.
The 31-year-old was an unused substitute as Arsenal beat their arch rivals, with Arteta admitting after the game that he is ready to move on from the minor indiscretion.
"I made what I thought was the right decision," he said.
"We draw a line there. Let's move on again. We know how important Auba is for the club. It's been dealt with and let's move on."
It's understood that Aubameyang arrived late to Emirates Stadium for the game, which is a breach of club protocol and something that Arteta doesn't take lightly.
Ten minutes into the second half of Sunday's game the Arsenal captain gestured to assistant coach Steve Round over whether he should take off his bib and get ready to come on.
Round responded by shaking his head and Aubameyang returned to his seat, put his face mask on and didn't say a word for the rest of the game.
Arteta reaffirmed after the game that his 'non-negotiables' continue to be at the forefront of the philosophy he wants to build at the club.
"For me the foundations and the platform we can build is something medium and long-term that is sustainable, that can bring us joy and happiness. Without that I don't believe it can happen.
"That's why I keep talking about and acting about it."
The striker is expected to be fined for his misdemeanour as it's not the first time he's been late, although he was keen to put the incident behind him once the game was over.
“North London is red and that’s it!” the striker wrote on Instagram.
Aubameyang could be heard leaving the stadium 20 minutes after the final whistle as the engine revs of his chrome-plated Ferrari reverberated from the car park through the rest of the ground.
Clearly frustrated with the situation, Aubameyang didn't speak with anyone during his pre-match training drills and was blanked by Arteta for the entire game.
The Gabon striker isn't the first player to break club protocol and he won't be the last, but he will be determined to make up for his minor indiscretion when the Gunners face Olympiacos in the Europa League last-16 second leg next week.
