The unseen boost Bristol City received over the weekend in play-off race against Aston Villa, Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest

Bristol City’s players travelled 14 times fewer miles this international break than some of their promotion-chasing rivals.

As the end of the season fast approaches, clubs are looking for any potential advantage they can get and, fortunately for the Robins, the international break has just handed them a big one over their playoff chasing rivals.

City players heading out on international duty were set to travel just 1,501 miles - all of them for Tomas Kalas.

That’s over 14 times fewer than the 21,605 miles that Aston Villa’s players travelled this week.

Only two Championship clubs’ players travelled further than Villa’s - Reading’s (27,680 miles) and Sheffield Wednesday’s (22,678 miles).

Bristol City aren’t the only playoff hopefuls whose players won’t be racking up the air miles.

Are Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling set to grace Bristol City's Ashton Gate stadium?

West Brom’s players face a combined journey of just 3,105 miles, while for Derby County’s players it’s 2,659 miles.

The distances have been calculated as a round trip from each player’s home ground, to the stadiums where their national team will play and back again.

Part of the reason the Robins have travelled so little is due to the fact Callum O'Dowda pulled out of international duty due to injury.

Had he been a part of Ireland's squad, he would have racked up 2,252 miles.

With Kalas having played for Czech Republic against England on Friday night at Wembley Stadium, that also limited the amount of miles he had to travel.

Other Robins did travel this international break, but jetted off for some sun instead, with Kasey Palmer heading to Jamaica and Josh Brownhill getting some downtime in Dubai.
