The unlikely winner of this year's All Ireland football final if history keeps repeating itself

On a remarkable weekend that saw the GAA commemorate 100 years since the events of Bloody Sunday, the action on the pitch incredibly mirrored that of a century ago.

After Mayo booked their place in the All-Ireland semi-finals a week prior, they were joined by Dublin in the last four on Saturday evening - setting up the possibility of an unprecedented repeat.

As Tipperary and Cavan tasted provincial success, the startling coincidence has seen the same All-Ireland semi-final pairings confirmed in 2020 as that of 1920.

In a special year for the association, it was almost written in the stars that the four counties would make up the semi-finals.

And if history is to continue repeating itself, we could be set to crown the most unlikely of All-Ireland champions next month.

With Tipperary facing Mayo and Dublin and Cavan colliding, 1920 results suggest that the Premier men will pull off another shock to reach the All-Ireland final and Dublin will progress past Cavan.

And if that's not enough, Tipperary went on to triumph over the Dubs in the All-Ireland final.

In a year like no other,is it possible that history could continue to repeat itself?

1920 All-Ireland semi-finals

Tipperary 1-05 Mayo 1-00

Dublin 3-06 Cavan 1-03

1920 All-Ireland final

Tipperary 1-06 Dublin 1-02
