The University of Leeds could be getting its 'own' customised Nike Air trainers

The University of Leeds could have its 'own' customised Nike trainers if a campaign to produce university themed sneakers is successful.

The Sole Supplier, which sells unusual, limited edition trainers, is hoping to convince the US sneakers giant to manufacture versions of their classic kicks with colours and graphics inspired by Britain's best universities.

And for The University of Leeds, The Sole Supplier has mocked up the 'Otley Run', a version of the Nike Air Max 97 based on the Russell Group uni's crest.

The trainer would be designed in the uni's colours of green and red with a stylised version of the crest below the ankle.

It is named after the famous, fancy dress pub crawl from Headingley into Leeds city centre, which is considered a rite of passage for students.

The Sole Supplier says: "The makeup of this custom Air Max 97 shoe features mixed shades of green ripple lines and red reflective piping, with a hit of red at the laces for an understated, yet attractive, finish.

"The Nike Swoosh branding completes the look, celebrating the university's big social scene with another playfully loud footwear design."

The Sole Supplier has also mocked up versions of classic Nike and Adidas trainers inspired by other top English universities namely, Cambridge, Durham, Loughborough, Oxford, Manchester and Imperial College London.

You can vote for the Leeds University design here. The design with the most votes will be pitched to the trainer manufacturer.
