The uninspiring Swansea City player ratings as defender has really tough time but one man keeps his head

FREDDIE WOODMAN 6

Had precious little to do in in terms of saves as Barnsley struggled to turn their possession into chances.

KYLE NAUGHTON 6

A very steady display from the right-back who returned to the starting lineup in place of Connor Roberts. Got forward well and was decent enough at the back.

BEN CABANGO 5

Had a few nervy moments when Barnsley pressed. Did improve as the game ticked on though.

BEN WILMOT 6

An improved display from the centre-back who ensured Woodman remained relatively untroubled.

JAKE BIDWELL 5

Had a really tough time in the opening half, with sloppy passing putting Swansea on the back foot. Improved slightly after the break and looked a little more threatening further up the pitch.

JAY FULTON 5

Gave a little more bite in the middle. Looked a little tired as the game wore on, understandably so given his lack of match action.

MATT GRIMES 6 - Star Man

A really solid display from the captain who remained calm when under pressure. Battling qualities made a huge difference at times.

TOM CARROLL 6

Probably the most influential of Swansea's midfield three in the first half. Influence wanted somewhat in the second half before being replaced.

ANDRE AYEW 5

Not at his influential best in the opening 45 as Swansea struggled to keep hold of the ball. Offered a little more in the second half but didn't really get any opportunities to worry the visitors.

SAM SURRIDGE 6

Had two golden opportunities in the opening half, first being denied by Samuel Radlinger before seeing an effort his the crossbar. Finally bugled the net in the second half, although he was offside. Didn't get the wards his efforts deserved.

BERSANT CELINA 6

A very quiet opening half an hour but grew into the game. Caused plenty of problems from the left flank in the second half though. Needed more support at times.

Subs

George Byers (for Carroll) - Missed a great opportunity to score the winner 10 minutes before the end. 6

Wayne Routledge (for Carroll) - Caused a few problems late on. 6
