This book in three words: Adventure, Paranormal and Thrilling.
That is what the blurb says.
The word 'paranormal' made me shudder as I read the blurb. I HATE horror movies and I am absolutely TERRIFIED of paranormal activity. But this book has made me think differently. The minute I read the word 'paranormal', I had decided not to read the book, or to write a terrible review of it.
Eventually the time came when I had to pick up the book because I had run out of things to read (even cereal boxes) and I had unfortunately already read the Deodorant Spray advert a thousand times on my way to school and back. Now you must be thinking what sort of a girl am I. Don't get me wrong, I actually ended up LIKING the book. Genuinely, I am NOT joking. Honestly, the book was not as 'paranormal' as I had expected it to be.
The Unicorne Files begins when the protagonist Michael, a brave, intelligent and lonely boy, saves a 'suicidal' husky. His action attracts attention from his schoolmates, the police and a really weird organisation called UNICORNE. Yes, unicorn with an e.
UNICORNE reveal something extraordinary. They say that they can provide Michael with information of what happened to his father who had disappeared three years ago, and of course they want something from him in return.
Something that is dangerous, something that is supernatural…
They give Michael a mission to find out about the dog that he had saved. Instead, he brings a rare human condition to their notice. A condition where a donor's memories and experiences fill the patient's head.
I truly enjoyed this book. The descriptions in this book are evocative: "Her confusion filled the living room like invisible dark energy".
Get reading before it's too late. It is addictive. Its twisting and turning plot has you wanting more and more, until you realise the book it over.
Note of CAUTION: Keep a few hours in hand before you start reading the book. Otherwise you'll continuously keep thinking about it. Maybe even visualise strange things.
