The unexpected honour received by Bristol City striker Famara Diedhiou that ranks him alongside Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa stars

It has been a successful break for Bristol City's international players.

Joe Morrell continued to impress for Wales as he helped his country to qualification for Euro 2020, whilst Adam Nagy continued his comeback from injury with an hour's run out for Hungary.

Yet it is Robins striker Famara Diedhiou that has grabbed the world's attention.

Diedhiou netted a hat-trick for Senegal in their 4-1 win over Eswatini in the qualification stage for the Africa Cup of Nations, netting his three goals in just eight second-half minutes.

The three-goal blitz took Diedhiou's total for his national team up to five goals from 10 appearances.

It also earned praise from EA Sports, with the City striker being named in FIFA 2020's team of the week.

Diedhiou grabs a place on the bench in the team of the week, with Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard and Harry Kane taking the spots up front thanks to their exploits during the international break.

Aston Villa star John McGinn is in midfield, along with Toni Kroos, whilst Man City defender Nicolas Otamendi also features.

Diedhiou has been given a rating of 79 thanks to his hat-trick, and his place on the bench effectively means he is among the 23 best performers in the world over the international break.

Whilst, admittedly, Diedhiou's goals did come against a country ranked joint 147th in the world alongside Myanmar and just above Afghanistan, the Robins will be buoyed by the striker's form over the international break, with it being his first competitive game this month.

Diedhiou was sent off in City's 2-1 win over Charlton Athletic in late October and was handed a three-match ban.

He is expected to be available for this weekend's home game against Nottingham Forest.
