Emile Smith Rowe has been central to Arsenal's revival in recent weeks.
The young midfielder is a prospect Gunners' fans are getting very excited about and at this point, the 20-year-old's influence can hardly be denied.
Arsenal were seven without a win before they brought in Smith Rowe and in his three starts since, Mikel Arteta's men have won all three.
But in a different world, without one key decision, Arsenal might not be benefiting from the youngster's impressive displays and that's because one club wanted to lure Smith Rowe away from the Emirates Stadium.
In 2019, the youngster joined German club RB Leipzig on a loan deal, one of two he would complete after he later joined Huddersfield Town for a temporary spell.
And when Leipzig came knocking, they requested an option-to-buy clause in the contract having learned from mistakes in their loan of Ademola Lookman, though they did eventually manage to sign the winger from Everton.
“We have a clear philosophy, we want to go long term with young and talented people,” Leipzig chief Oliver Mintzlaff Mintzlaff said in February 2019.
“Emile has been scouted for a long time and we would certainly like to have bought him, but that was out of the question right now."
It was out of the question because Arsenal, then guided by Unai Emery, were having none of it, determined that Smith Rowe had a future at Arsenal.
The Gunners refused to insert that option-to-buy and Smith Rowe would return after making just three league appearances for Leipzig, enjoying a more productive spell at Huddersfield, where he made 19 league appearances.
The 20-year-old returned ahead of this season and on this form, he won't be going anywhere else soon.
