The UK's naughtiest children's names have been picked by parents and teachers

Most parents spend nine-months thinking of the perfect name for their baby - but research has shown that there might be no such thing.

A survey of parents and teachers has revealed which names are associated with being naughty and nice.

Little boys called Jack are likely to be the naughtiest, according to parents and teachers who associate that name with bad behaviour.

Shirley-Anne Somerville says the payment helps "make sure Scotland is the best place for a child to grow up" (PA)

For girls the naughtiest name was Mia - with as many as 96 percent of teachers, parents and children also associating those names with a lack of intelligence.

Also making the list of naughty names for boys was Harry, Charlie, Oliver and George.

Girls also making the top five of badly behaved names was Ella Isabella, Amelia and Sophia.

But it wasn't all bad news, there are some 'good' names parents can opt for.

According to the research by Mynametag.com, the best behaved boys are named Arthur with just 4 percent of those surveyed expecting Arthurs to misbehave because the name is associated with being quiet and shy, as is the name Noah.

When it comes to angelic little girls Isla tops the list followed by fellow good girls was Ava, Grace, Olivia and Emily. Whilst the good boys were Noah, Oscar, Muhammed and Leo.

Grace is considered to be the shyest in class, with teachers, parents and children agreeing the name tends to belong to the most introverted kids.

While the names Charlie and Olivia are assumed to be the most confident and Georges are considered to be the most kind and intelligent.

Managing director at My Nametags, Lars B. Andersen, said: “We know that there are strong stereotypes attached to names and that someone’s first name can really paint a picture of what they are like.

"It was interesting to discover that these stereotypes are formed from a young age, with children and adults quick to make judgements about children based on their first name alone.

"These beliefs can make the difficult task of naming a child even more challenging, but we hope that our research will help give expectant parents an insight into society’s opinions of the most popular boys and girls names in the UK right now."
