The UK's best seaside towns ranked as one Welsh beauty spot makes it into the top 10

A Welsh beauty spot has been ranked in the top 10 of the UK's best seaside towns.

More than 3,700 visitors took part in a Which? survey which looked at the best seaside towns, resorts and attractions for a holiday or a weekend break.

Ranking at number 10 is St David's in Pembrokeshire. Located on the River Alun, it is the resting place of St David.

It is the smallest city in Britain, boasting a population of just over 1,600.

Activities in the city include visiting St David's Cathedral, built from local stone with a stunning pink and grey colouring.

The Bishop's Palace is also a great landmark and is now run by Cadw, the Welsh historic buildings agency.

The palace became one of the victims of the reformation when many estates were confiscated.

Visitors named St Mawes, Cornwall, the best place in the UK for a seaside break this year, handing it five stars for peace and quiet.

High in the rankings were places such as Southwold, Suffolk, and less touristy villages, like Tynemouth, north east of Newcastle, which were rated better than classic favourites such as St Ives, Cornwall.

Other Welsh beauty spots near the top on the list include Llandudno in north Wales, which ranked 11th overall.

The small town was given an 80% overall score and a five star when it comes to value for money.

Tenby in Pembrokeshire also had an impressive score, ranking in at 15.

The popular seaside resort, which is known for its many stretches of sandy shoreline, was given a 79% overall score and given a four star overall value for money.

Other resorts, such as Porthcawl, Bridgend, and Colwyn Bay, Conwy, featured further down the list but still rated highly in certain areas.
