The UK Michelin star restaurant where you can enjoy world class food for just £20

Eating out at restaurants can be a costly business in the UK, not to mention at venues offering the finest cuisine, but there is a place where you can get a Michelin starred meal in London for just over £20.

With restrictions easing, more people are thinking about being able to dine out again and the Cornerstone restaurant offers world class food which doesn't eat away at your wallet.

Most people thinking of a Michelin restaurant would consider them for the wealthy or for a special treat.

Heston Blumenthal’s menu at the three-star Fat Duck will set you back anywhere between £250 to £325 per person, and a tasting menu at Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester comes in hot at £170.

Your wallet is already screaming at the thought!

But with a bit of research, you’ll actually find that you can enjoy a Michelin-star meal for a pretty reasonable price.

Experts at thinkmoney have analysed the menus and prices of 148 Michelin-star restaurants from around the country - including their top 20 where you can bag a meal for less than £30 a head, reports MyLondon.

The top stop for the most affordable Michelin-star restaurant is Hackney’s Cornerstone.

Run by Great British Menu winner and veteran Tom Brown, the restaurant picked up its first star earlier this year.

Having been the right-hand man to Nathan Outlaw while at the St Enodoc Hotel in 2012 and later head chef at Outlaw’s at The Capital in 2016, Tom set up his first solo venture back in 2018.

His London roots inspire a lot of his dishes, both at his restaurant and during his appearance on Great British Menu .

In 2018, he snagged the coveted Main Course of the Great British Menu banquet with his dish "Poor Man's Goose", which celebrated 70 years of the NHS.

Cornerstone emphasises Tom’s flare for seafood and fish, with fresh, seasonal dishes.

You’ll find the likes of fresh raw oysters with a seaweed hot sauce, seafood cocktail crumpet, and a hake Kiev on its most recent menu.
