HARTFORD, Conn. _ Once the premier rivalry in women's sports and appointment television viewing for a generation of basketball fans, the UConn-Tennessee series resumes Thursday _ 13 years after the most recent meeting and a quarter-century since that seismic first encounter in January 1995.
The intervening decade-plus has seen the programs on alternate trajectories, the Lady Vols struggling to maintain their identity as a national power without their matriarch, Pat Summitt, and the Huskies taking their dominance to another level under the guidance of Geno Auriemma.
