The U.S. men’s basketball team lost to France in its Olympic opener and fans ripped them for it

The U.S. men’s basketball team had its struggles leading up to the Tokyo Olympics and then those struggles continued Sunday in a big way as the team, which is made up of NBA stars, lost its opener to France, 83-76.

This was the first game coached by Gregg Popovich, the legendary coach of the San Antonio Spurs, and it was the first Olympic loss by the men’s team since 2004.

Evan Fournier, who plays for the Boston Celtics, led France with a game-high 28 points. For real.

Jrue Holiday, who just celebrated a NBA title with the Bucks a few days ago, led Team USA with 18 points. Kevin Durant had just 10 points.

The U.S. team should roll in its next two group games and get to the knockout stage but this loss was a bad one and had fans on Twitter going off.
