Former Nottingham Forest midfielder David Prutton has said that the turnover of players at the City Ground this summer could have a positive mental impact on the Forest squad.
The Reds endured a heartbreaking end to the Championship season in 2019/20, missing out on the playoffs in dramatic fashion.
In an attempt to make the next step to the Premier League, Forest have added substantially in the summer, and Prutton can see the positive side to it.
"Given the improvements we saw under Sabri last season, it was bitter disappointment the final game," he said.
"But that's not to say we damn this squad, this manager, the current set up purely on one game.
"The lead up to that game meant there was that outside chance that something might happen which was pretty miraculous, which it ended up doing.
"So that kind of sea change of personnel, 10 players coming in, means that you have a good chance of going into these games and someone going 'oh yeah, do you remember what happened?' Or subconsciously thinking about it.
However, Prutton also said that the situation at the end of last season can be seen as a positive for the members of the squad still at the club.
"The other side of it is you have to have players who are mentally tough about it.
"It is easy to say watching from our vantage point. There's got to be a moving on, and if that involves different personnel then great, if it players coming through that, then I think they'll be stronger off the back of it."
