The two things BBC pundits noticed about Tottenham during Liverpool defeat

Following a poor run of results recently, Spurs and boss Mauricio Pochettino have been under pressure, but the pundits believe that there are signs of improvement.

Harry Kane opened the scoring in the first minute against Premier League leaders Liverpool on Sunday, adroitly nodding home a rebound after Son Heung-min's deflected effort crashed back off the bar.

But despite taking an early lead, Pochettino's side were eventually beaten thanks to goals from Jordan Henderson and Mohamed Salah.

Spurs have only won one of their last five in the Premier League (against Southampton, who sit 18th in the table), with losses against Leicester City, Brighton and Liverpool, plus a draw against Watford which required a late Dele Alli equaliser.

However, pundits do see signs of improvement among Spurs, following their midweek dismantling of Red Star Belgrade and an improved level of intensity and desire against Jurgen Klopp's side.

"I did see a return to that [intensity]," Ian Wright said on Match of the Day 2.

"I saw it in the Champions League as well and they carried it on today. I have to say the goalkeeper was magnificent today.

"The closing down, you look at [Harry] Winks, [Moussa] Sissoko and Son today, they really did start this game intensified.

"I was thinking with Spurs can they keep it going as they did get people forward when they could.

"They closed down, closed down with pace and organisation. You can see them really getting into Liverpool. They made it uncomfortable for them.

"We saw Manchester United do this with Liverpool, maybe because it was at Old Trafford, Liverpool didn't get out as well as they could. In the end they got the draw.

"Tottenham really put them under pressure today in respects of making them go for the game. It was really good from Spurs but Liverpool know draws are not good enough now."

Former Spurs striker Peter Crouch added: "I thought there was a desire about Tottenham which we haven't seen enough of this season.

"I thought they were getting on to people and engaging, From Son it was an unbelievable performance defensively and he offers from threat as well."
