The two Premier League managers who would have Arsenal challenging Chelsea and Man City

BBC Pundit Danny Murphy has insisted that Arsenal would have more points this season if Burnley boss Sean Dyche was their manager.

The Gunners are fifth in the Premier League table, eight points behind Manchester City in the race for Champions League football.

Sunday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of top-four rivals Leicester City was yet another blow to Unai Emery who is under growing pressure at the Emirates.

Arsenal supporters have made their feelings clear that they want to see the ex-Paris Saint-Germain boss axed, with Brendan Rodgers their pick to replace him.

However, former Liverpool midfielder Murphy has insisted that English bosses Dyche and Chris Wilder, who has impressed at Sheffield United, would have faired better than Emery this season with Arsenal.

“If you look at Sean Dyche and Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, they are two English managers who have come up the hard way,” Murphy told talkSPORT .

“Would Arsenal be in a better position now if Wilder was in charge or Dyche?

“Would they have more points? I think [they would], 100 per cent.”

Whilst the Arsenal supporters will be hoping for their hierarchy to make a change over the international break, that looks increasingly unlikely.

Reports from around north London suggest the board have full confidence in Emery's ability to lead them to a top-four finish, despite a poor start to the Premier League season.

"We firmly believe Unai is the right man for the job," Arsenal head of football Raul Sanllehi and managing director Vinai Venkatesham told staff at a meeting.

"We are as disappointed as everyone else with both our results and performances at this stage of the season.

"We share the frustration with our fans, Unai, players and all our staff as they are not at the level we want or expect. Things need to improve to meet our objectives for the season.”
