The two players that could force Nottingham Forest into Lewis Grabban change

Nottingham Forest’s defeat to Birmingham City was a bitter pill to swallow for supporters of a Reds persuasion.

Sabri Lamouchi’s side had taken the lead though a Tiago Silva goal, and looked on course to extend their unbeaten run in the Sky Bet Championship.

The visitors were awarded a penalty midway through the first half, which .

But his effort was well saved by Lee Camp, and it was a miss that after Blues went on to win the game 2-1 with goals from Scott Hogan and Kristian Pedersen.

Much of the talk after the game was whether Grabban should step aside from his penalty taking duties, with Silva and Joe Lolley named by sections of supporters as potential replacements.

This miss against Blues was Grabban’s first from the penalty spot this season, after he netted his previous three against Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Luton Town.

Last season’s form from the spot is where the majority of criticism for Grabban’s penalty taking stems from – his record for 2018/19 reads scored three and missed four.

During his time at the City Ground, Grabban has missed five out of his 11 penalty kicks, but is this just an issue since he arrived on Trentside?

Throughout his career - which has included spells at Brentford, Rotherham, Bournemouth, Norwich, Reading, Aston Villa, as well as Forest – Grabban has taken 37 penalties.

Out of those 37, he has scored 28 of them, meaning that only nine have gone down as missed chances.

With five of those nine coming while at the City Ground, it could be time for someone else to be given an opportunity from the spot.

Lolley took two penalties during the 2018/19 season and scoring both of them, as well as two more in Carabao Cup shootout against Bury which he converted.

Silva is yet to take a penalty while at Forest, but he has taken 11 in his career across spells at Feirense and Belenenses, scoring nine of them.

While Grabban’s penalty record is by no means bad, Forest do have one or two options available should they decide to go down a different route.
