The two massive beer festivals coming to Bristol in 2020

Beer fans in Bristol have some key dates to add to their diaries after details of the city's two biggest festivals celebrating the drink were announced.

The CAMRA Bristol Beer Festival and Bristol Craft Beer Festival both offer aficionados the chance to sample some of the finest ales from across the world.

Both events also have a range of entertainment running alongside the beer consumption to make it a memorable - and boozy - day out.

Below is everything you need to know about the two separate events.

CAMRA Bristol Beer Festival

Organised by volunteer members of CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale) and now in its 23rd year, the annual CAMRA Bristol Beer Festival takes place from March 19 - 21 at Brunel’s Old Station, Temple Meads.

This is the largest real ale dedicated event in the area and will include a carefully chosen selection of around 140 different real ales on sale over the course of the festival, as well as what promises to be CAMRA's biggest ever range of cider and perry.

Tickets for all sessions cost £12.50 including £5 worth of beer festival tokens, which customers will receive on entry, and there will also be a selection of street food on offer to soak up the booze.

Also included are a festival programme and a commemorative half pint glass, marked for third and half-pint measures.

Bristol & District Branch Chairman Richard Brooks said: "This is the event that thousands of fans of great beer, cider and perry eagerly look forward to each year.

"Nowhere else in the Bristol area will you be able to find such a huge range of real ale, carefully selected to provide an interesting variety of beer styles and strengths.

"The festival features a great selection of real ale from around the UK as well as being a celebration and showcase of the fantastic brewing scene in the Bristol area and features all our local breweries on the festival LocAle bar."

Tickets are available from the festival's website.

Bristol Craft Beer Festival returns to the Lloyds Amphitheatre from June 12 - 13 for its fifth year, promising another jam-packed weekend of fantastic beer, incredible food and live music.

Bristol’s massive brewing community will be represented by the likes of Bristol Beer Factory, Arbor, Good Chemistry, Left Handed Giant, Lost & Grounded, New Bristol, Wild Beer, Moor and Wiper and True.

Over the years Bristol Craft Beer Festival has garnered a reputation as an international event, bringing some of the world’s best breweries to the city - and 2020 will be no different.

The likes of De La Senne, ToØL and Amundsen will wave the European flag while breweries from a little further across the pond such as Australia’s Stone & Wood, Canada’s Collective Arts and America’s craft beer founding fathers Sierra Nevada will also be at the event.

With more breweries to be announced, Bristol Craft Beer Festival also comes with a mouthwatering lineup of Bristol street food featuring Murray Mays, Two Belly, Asado and Eatchu.

Tickets for Bristol Craft Beer Festival are available now from the festival's website at £49.50 plus booking fee which includes entry to the event for five hours, festival pours of any beer from any brewer, a full music lineup, a free beer tasting glass and a programme.
