The two Manchester United photos in Jose Mourinho's office at Tottenham's training ground

Jose Mourinho's time as Manchester United boss ended on a sour note after a memorable first season at the helm.

Replacing Louis van Gaal in the hotseat a few days after the Dutchman had led the team to FA Cup glory, the trophies continued to follow for the club following the appointment of the experienced manager.

Winning the Carabao Cup in February 2017 with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Southampton at Wembley, the team then triumphed in the Europa League after recording a 2-0 win against Ajax in Sweden.

However, that it was it in terms of trophies for Mourinho as the following season they lost in the FA Cup final against Chelsea having finished the campaign in second behind rivals Man City.

Despite losing his position a few months later after a disastrous start to the season, Mourinho clearly has fond memories of his spell in Manchester as he revealed at his press conference ahead of Spurs' visit to the Theatre of Dreams that he still has a couple of photos from his time at the club in his new office at Hotspur Way.

"For you it's like I left Manchester United yesterday," he told reporters at his pre-match press conference. "It was not yesterday, it was almost one year ago. I am Tottenham.

"Again, if you want to speak about United as an opponent, let's speak about them as an opponent.

"About my history there, go to my office upstairs and I still have a couple of pictures of my Man United time and that's it."

Speaking to the media at the end of his press conference, Mourinho did actually reveal which pictures from his Manchester United tenure are in his office at Spurs' training ground.

"One with the Europa League and my son in Stockholm and one with Carabao, with the Carabao Cup when you get the cup at the top of Wembley," he told reporters.

Clearly cherished memories for the head coach after leading the Red Devils to some much-needed silverware after a barren couple of years following Sir Alex Ferguson's departure in 2013, one of his other biggest achievements at Old Trafford was guiding the team to second in the table behind Man City in 2017/18.

Asked if his time at the club was undervalued by many, Mourinho refused to open up on the situation but he did state that he now believes he is a better coach than when he was with the Red Devils.

"I have no interest in speaking about it," he said. "I did the best I could.

"Of course I analyse it, I met my assistants, we analyse everything, when we analyse it, was in a very positive, constructive way.

"I forbid them to in the analysis to blame anyone else but us. Focus on us. Don’t focus on the club, don’t focus on the players, focus just on us.

"What could we do better, what can we do better in the future, where we have to improve. It was very constructive.

“That’s not the point. The point is you win or you learn, you don’t lose. So I feel that.

"It was good because I managed to win something, some nice thing and do some nice things.

"On the opposite side, I learned and I think I’m a better coach now than when I was there."
