Tottenham have been dealt a huge blow in their search for a new manager.
Spurs are on the lookout for a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho last week in the lead-up to the Carabao Cup final amid a disappointing run of form.
The appointment of Ryan Mason until the end of the season has given Tottenham time to make their decision on their next manager ahead of next season.
But that has not helped their cause in the case of RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann, who is attracting interest from Bayern Munich ahead of the departure of Hansi Flick from the Allianz Arena this summer.
According to reports, Bayern have already started talks over the appointment of Nagelsmann, who looks very likely to leave RB Leipzig this summer, not that his current club are helping that happen.
RB Leipzig reportedly want up to £26million for Nagelsmann's services, and that could mean Bayern have plenty of talking still to do before they can hire the sought-after boss.
But given Bayern are likely to be well ahead of Spurs in the race for Nagelsmann, it seems Daniel Levy may well have to look elsewhere to find his man.
Brendan Rodgers is another candidate Tottenham like, but given his position at Leicester City, who will more than likely be playing Champions League football next season, it is perhaps unlikely that he will be tempted to north London.
But there are other options with Ajax boss Erik ten Hag on the radar, football.london understands, the Dutchman vastly impressing since taking over the Eredivisie giants in 2017.
And Brighton boss Graham Potter is another with admirers in north London having impressed at the helm at Brighton after making the move from Swansea City in 2019.
Football.london understands that Spurs' profile for their ideal next manager is one who is progressive, attack-minded, favouring possession-based football and, most importantly, fits into the club's culture.
That could lead them to Potter or ten Hag between now and the start of next season, but it seems Nagelsmann and Rodgers could be forced off the table.
