They face top-four rivals Manchester United as well as Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League before the end of February and there's also the FA Cup fifth round tie against Liverpool in early March.

In addition they welcome Bayern Munich to Stamford Bridge in a couple of weeks for the first-leg round of 16 clash in the Champions League - a repeat of the 2012 final which the Blues won.

Speaking of Bayern, they have somewhat of an injury crisis developing as one player who will certainly miss the game in west London is winger Ivan Perisic.

This was confirmed by the Bundesliga giants on Tuesday ahead of their DFB Pokal tie against Hoffenheim.

A statement via the club's official website reads: "FC Bayern will be without Ivan Perisic for the time being.

"The 31-year-old Croatia international sustained a fracture to his outer ankle during training on Tuesday.

"The ankle has to be screwed together. It will take around four weeks for the injury to heal, then he'll begin recovery training," confirmed Bayern coach Hansi Flick.

"It's not easy for us at this moment in time because Ivan has been in very good form, and his dynamism and experience have helped us a lot."

Perisic joins long-term absentee Niklas Sule as the two players who won't feature in west London.

Lucas Hernandez has missed Bayern's last three games, bu according to transfermarkt there's not expected return date set for the France World Cup winner just yet.

Perisic has made 22 appearances across all competitions for Bayern this season, netting five goals in the process.

In addition, he's weighed in with three assists in the Champions League despite starting just two games in the group stage.

His absence will be a huge blow for Hansi Flick's side as his creativity from out wide will be missed.
