The two Champions League clubs fighting Tottenham to sign Giovani Lo Celso

Giovani Lo Celso is a wanted man this summer with Tottenham Hotspur's interest in the midfielder shared by two other Champions League clubs.

After missing out to Arsenal in the race to sign Nicolas Pepe, Napoli are expected to turn their attentions to the Argentinian, and they aren't the only ones.

James Rodriguez could remain at Real Madrid this summer after having previously been expected to leave. However, an injury to Marco Asensio, and the ongoing drama around Gareth Bale's future, could see the Colombian stay on at the Bernabeu.

He had been subject to interest from across the Spanish capital with Atletico Madrid interested in the former World Cup Golden Ball-winner. They too are now said to be keen on signing Lo Celso as an alternative to James.

Real Betis have already signed a replacement for the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder in Nabil Fekir but are holding out for a club-record fee believed to be around €70million or £64million at the current exchange rate.

Atletico and Napoli's interest in Lo Celso could complicate plans to pressure the Sevilla-based club into accepting a lower valuation given the money they have already spent this summer.

Estadio Deportivo claim tha Tottenham remain the player's first choice, however. He is understood to have been won over by Mauricio Pochettino's plans for the season and his development.

Barcelona are also interested in a Betis player with the club refusing to budge on a high valuation for Junior Firpo.

Spurs had been tipped to sign Lo Celso as a replacement for Christian Eriksen after the Dane made it known that he would like to pursue a new challenge.

No suitable offers have come in for the playmaker and he could yet remain at Tottenham to commit his future to the club.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are expected to take the lead in the race to sign Paulo Dybala despite Juventus placing a €100million asking price on the forward.
