The two Arsenal players who almost missed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's winner against Everton

Arsenal won back-to-back games in the Premier League for the first time since the opening weekend of the new season when they overcame Everton at the weekend.

A third game in seven days certainly took its toll on Mikel Arteta's squad as they were put under significant pressure especially in the second half, but held on for what could turn out to be a valuable three points.

The first-half started and finished in the worst possible way for the Gunners as Dominic Calvert-Lewin opened the scoring inside the first minute, before Richarlison cancelled out Eddie Nketiah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang goals to level things up on the stroke of half-time.

Surprisingly there was to be only one goal in the second half and it came within seconds of the restart as Nicolas Pepe picked out Aubameyang to guide a header past Jordan Pickford and restore the home side's lead.

The goal happened so quick that many spectators in the ground who were late returning for the beginning of the second half will have missed the Gunners captain's second goal of the afternoon.

And there were two Arsenal players who almost missed the goal too.

Via the club's official YouTube account, Arsenal posted their regular 'Bench Cam' video, which captures the head coach's every move in the dugout.

On this occasion, the focus was on two players not named in the matchday squad against the Toffees in Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock.

As seen in the images below, both academy graduates made their way back out to the pitch whilst the Gunners were on the attack, just as Mesut Ozil sweeps the ball out to Pepe.

A few seconds later the ball is in the back of the net.

Willock doesn't even make it back to his seat behind the Arsenal bench, but he does acknowledge Aubameyang's goal. Meanwhile, Maitland-Niles has disappeared out of shot.

After the game, Arteta heaped praise on the matchwinner.

"I am so happy with him," the Spaniard told reporters. "Obviously because he's scoring very important goals but also because as a captain, he is giving a great example to everybody else that a player of his calibre is able to work the way that he is working defensively because the demands every three days are big and he is willing and happy to do it.

"I think he's playing in regard to this."
