The Twins turned the smoothest triple play to get out of a bases-loaded jam

Triple plays are relatively rare in baseball — it happens only a few times a season. But for the Minnesota Twins, the triple play is starting to look routine.

Just two weeks ago, the Twins got out of a first-inning jam against the Yankees with a routine 5-4-3 triple play. As easy as they made that play look, the Twins infield pulled it off once again on Wednesday.

As the Atlanta Braves looked poised for a big third — having already scored three runs in the inning — Tyler Flowers stepped to the plate with the bases loaded and nobody out. Pitcher Martin Perez would get out of the inning right there thanks to ANOTHER 5-4-3 triple play.

Everything went right there for the Twins. A hard-hit ball right to the hard-throwing Miguel Sano, a perfect turn at second base and a catcher running to first.

Just like that, the Twins were out of the jam.

It was the team’s second triple play of the season and the third in all of baseball this year.
