The Turf: Ayrshire pub lives up to its name after installing artificial grass throughout boozer

An Irvine pub is living up to its name after a lockdown makeover.

Bosses at the Turf Hotel in Eglinton Street have spruced up their barroom by installing artificial grass.

The trim new look is part of a revamp at the popular boozer which re-opened on May 17 following the lifting of local coronavirus restrictions.

Manageress Anji Gray said: "We only decided to decorate the place four weeks ago but we're delighted with how it's turned out.

"As well as refurbishing the bar area, we've put in a couple of new features including a racing corner with betting slips and a new tele for customers to watch the horse racing.

"We've also given a wee nod to the pub's name by lining the seating areas, window ledges and new barrells with artificial turf.

"The feedback from customers so far has been great and it's been brilliant to welcome our regulars back as well as some new faces.

"A lot of hard work has gone on to make sure we could keep the pub open in these difficult times and we wanted to make it even better."
