The truth behind the rumours linking Liverpool's Harry Wilson with Leicester City as Brendan Rodgers makes admission

Leicester City have not made any attempt to try and sign Harry Wilson, WalesOnline understands.

Having been the subject of interest from a host of clubs in the summer, the Liverpool loanee's future is once again a topic of speculation, following a fine run of goalscoring form with Bournemouth.

The 22-year-old has netted seven goals in 25 games for the Cherries, making him the club's joint-top scorer for the season so far.

That form has predictably seen his stock rise even further.

Links have emerged this week suggesting that Leicester could well be tempted to take the Welshman on board to help out in their revolution under Brendan Rodgers, who appears intent on taking the Foxes back to the top.

Asked about a potential move for the winger, Rodgers was unsurprisingly diplomatic.

“We want to add to squad if we can,” Rodgers told  Sky Sports News.

“It all comes down to availability.

“We’ve got a really strong squad and lots of them are young players evolving. We want to but if we can’t we’ll continue with the squad we’ve got and look to reinforce in the summer.

“I know Harry [Wilson] very well. He’s a fantastic talent. I don’t speculate or gossip on other players, especially other players from other teams."

However, sources close to the player have dismissed talk of a move to the King Power, and have stressed that Wilson is happy with his current situation, adding that he still has ambitions to be a success on Merseyside.

Wilson recently returned to Anfield for rehabilitation on a mystery leg injury that had previously kept him out of action for two weeks back in December.

All the signs suggest he's now focused on getting back to firing on all cylinders for the Cherries, although his future beyond the summer still holds a number of questions.

While Wilson is keen to fight for a place at Anfield, the recent arrival of Takumi Minamino has taken a first-team breakthrough just a little bit further out of reach.

Klopp himself has continued to heap praise on the winger.

Before his side faced Bournemouth, he said: "We have no doubt about Harry’s shooting abilities. His skills in that part of the game is incredible, world class for sure.

“But he has gone to Bournemouth to improve the rest of his game – being involved, being decisive, being between the lines, using his speed and all that stuff and he makes big steps there. That’s really important.

“They are not on the best run but even there [against Spurs] he scored two goals, nice goals as well, not important enough at the end because they still lost but he kept the game going so good.”

Similar messages have been coming out around fellow Welsh youngster Ben Woodburn recently, but with Liverpool currently boasting arguably the best front three in world football, it's becoming increasingly apparent that such praise may not actually result in first-team opportunities.

Something may have to give soon.
