The truth behind Sean Longstaff links and Newcastle's transfer deadline day hopes

Sean Longstaff is keen to stay and fight for his place at Newcastle United despite loan interest in the midfielder.

Elsewhere, Leicester City's Hamza Choudhury and Arsenal's Joe Willock are both understood to be on the Magpies radar for deadline-day moves.

Here is your 4am Newcastle United digest.

Sean Longstaff links

Reports over the weekend had linked Sean Longstaff with a temporary switch to La Liga outfit Valencia, with a potential £15m fee agreed for a permanent deal.

However, ChronicleLive's chief NUFC writer Lee Ryder insists the Magpies have not received an approach for the Academy graduate at this point.

Longstaff has 18 months left to run on his current deal, and Championship club Watford have asked about a temporary switch until the end of the season. However, the 23-year-old is keen to remain on Tyneside

The Hornets have also expressed an interest in the midfielder's brother Matty, with reports indicating Newcastle are 'open to the possibility' of loaning out the younger Longstaff brother.

Choudhury latest

Hamza Choudhury was an unused substitute for Leicester City's home defeat to Leeds United on Sunday, with Brendan Rodgers confirming talks have been held with Bruce over a deal.

Lee Ryder reports the Magpies' 'best chance' of confirming a loan move for the former England under-21 international is if the Foxes sign Nathaniel Chalobah from Watford as his replacement.

The Hornets are keen to line-up a replacement, hence their aforementioned interest in their Longstaff brothers.

Willock 'top of wishlist'

Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock is reportedly top of Steve Bruce's wishlist ahead of deadline day - according to the Mail Online.

Newcastle have previously been credited with an interest in Gunners team-mate Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and are now trying to convince Mikel Arteta to sanction a deal for the 21-year-old.

Willock is keen to secure more game-time, having been left as an unused substitute in the Saturday night draw to Manchester United.

The midfielder has made just two Premier League starts this season, but impressed for the Gunners in the Europa League group stages.
