Nottingham Forest dismiss claim about owner Evangelos Marinakis

Nottingham Forest have dismissed reports Evangelos Marinakis is looking to buy another football club.

French publication Le 10 Sport claim the Reds owner, who also already owns Greek giants Olympiacos, has made an offer for Ligue 2 side ESTAC Troyes as he “wants to invest in France”.

However, Forest have categorically denied that to be the case.

Le 10 Sport claim “negotiations are underway” between ESTAC president Daniel Masoni and Marinakis, with an offer of 12m euros made.

The report adds that talks have stalled as a result of Marinakis contracting coronavirus and requiring a period of self-isolation.

It says: “After a meeting between the two men in London in early March, Daniel Masoni would also be in solitary confinement for a possible contagion to the same virus.”

Marinakis announced via his official Instagram account last week that he had tested positive for COVID-19, just days after visiting the City Ground to watch Sabri Lamouchi’s men in action against Millwall.

The Greek bought Forest in May 2017 and has been at the helm of Olympiacos since 2010.
