Dinos Mavropanos will leave Arsenal permanently in the summer after manager Mikel Arteta sanctioned the move.
football.london understands that Arteta had doubts over Mavropanos' ball distribution, despite the Greek international's impressive passing statistics in the Bundesliga last season.
Mavropanos, the 23-year-old centre-back, was nominated Bundesliga Rookie of the Month in February. Stuttgart paid a €500,000 loan fee for Mavropanos and they have an obligation to buy him for €3million (£2.5m) next summer.
That option isn't valid if Stuttgart are relegated - an unlikely scenario given their current form in the German top flight - whilst they also have an option to buy if they don't reach their team objectives this season.
"In both cases we would have the chance to take him. I think it's relatively clear what's going to happen to him," said Stuttgart's Sven Mislintat.
Whilst Mavropanos' future has already been decided, William Saliba's still needs to be resolved.
The French defender has two years remaining on his current contract and he is currently on loan at Ligue One giants Marseille.
The plan would be for him to come back to Arsenal next summer and a decision will be made on whether he’s offered a new contract or not.
football.london understands that talks are expected to reopen towards the end of Saliba's loan spell at Marseille.
Saliba started against PSG on Sunday evening in a match where he helped keep a clean sheet, and drew further plaudits following an impressive performance against Kylian Mbappe.
