The truth behind Manchester United fan pictured at Old Trafford wearing 'Aguero' shirt

While Man City were clinching their fourth Premier League title Manchester United were slipping to their sixth game without a victory as they lost 2-0 to already relegated Cardiff City on the final day.

It's been a dreadful end to the season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side after only managing two victories in the final 12 games of the season and the atmosphere at Old Trafford has begun to grown stressed and agitated once again.

Frustrations were compounded even further when an image from the game went viral on social media as a United supporter was spotted wearing a United shirt with 'Aguero No.7' on the back.

Many United fans thought this was in reference to City's star striker Sergio Aguero and were quick to lament the state of the fan base and modern football on social media.

The truth, however, is much funnier.

FootballJoe journalist, Si Lloyd, originally tweeted the photo with the caption 'delete this club' and then went to find out what would possess a United fan to get one of City's greatest ever players on the back of his jersey.

As it transpired, the fan's name is Leonard Aguero, and he was merely wearing his own name on the shirt after travelling from Melbourne, Australia, to watch the defeat.

Aguero later made his own Twitter account after he went viral and explained that the lack of 'Kun' before the name and the No.7 rather than the City striker's No.10 would be enough to avoid any confusion. Sadly not.
