The truth behind footage of Man City dropping Premier League trophy after beating Liverpool to title

Scores of Liverpool fans took to social media to take pleasure in posting the clip of Manchester City dropping the Premier League trophy from a balcony.

The video appeared to show a piece of silverware resembling the trophy smashed on a concrete floor.

It was seemingly filmed at the club's training ground.

In the video a man can be heard in the background saying "the Premier League trophy has just been dropped" while the camera shows chunks of metal on the floor.

There is some distinct laughter while striker Sergio Aguero looks on sheepishly in the background and a woman in front of him smiles while a man asks if it was her.

The footage surfaced as City took the trophy on a parade around Manchester on Monday night after narrowly pipping the Reds to the domestic title by just one point in an intense and close-fought season that went down to the wire.

However, the clip is not genuine and it was taken from a prank sketch filmed by City TV for a comedy video".
