The truth behind Daniel James' current situation at Swansea City amid Man United and Liverpool links

Manchester United and Liverpool have NOT shown an interest in Daniel James, but he is still attracting attention from the Premier League.

WalesOnline understands that despite increased speculation, no club has yet made a concrete approach for the player, and that the winger isn't currently on the radar of the top six.

It comes after the Daily Mail claimed that Man United and Liverpool were both weighing up a move , with reports even suggesting that James himself was aware of United's admiration.

It's understood those reports are wide off the mark, with James instead catching the eye of teams further down the top-flight ladder.

The Liverpool, Man Utd and Leeds United Daniel James links have provoked a big reaction from one fanbase

Bournemouth and Newcastle United are among the clubs believed to have shown an initial interest, but no one has yet made a move to test Swansea City's resolve to keep the player.

James has been a stand-out performer for club and country this season, and his future has been the subject of fervent speculation in recent weeks, with Manchester City and Everton both previously touted as possible destinations.

Swansea are understandably keen on keeping the 21-year old, and are hoping to extend his current contract, which runs out next summer.

Sources close to the club claim talks are ongoing, but it's understood that there's no offer currently on the table, with Swansea hoping to free up money elsewhere by moving on the Ayews, Borja Baston and others.

James was left out of the trip to Blackburn Rovers on the final day due to a toe injury, with boss Graham Potter admitting he didn't know if the Welsh international had played his final game for the club.

He said: "No-one can see into the future, as with all of the players. It's football, it's part of the industry."
